Ugggghhhh... rough day on the court today. We played Great Britain and it was awful. We didn't have the same fight as yesterday and it was frustrating that they were quicker than us all over the place. Our score was about the same as yesterday (a little to a LOT) but walking off the court felt terrible. It's not worth watching except for the part where my shoe came off in the middle of heated play in my circle... What the heck?! We have been trained how to do toss ups, how to pass, etc. but there was NOTHING in training about what to do when your shoe is stepped off in the middle of play! So, that was probably the highlight of the tough game because it was good practice for going with the flow and to keep moving forward because that's exactly what we're doing from this game. The best part in all of this is that we have a chance to step onto the court anew tomorrow. We can and will shake off today and leave that game behind.
It's been 1 1/2 weeks of consistent, intense play and all of our bodies are feeling sore. We are soooo fortunate to have a sports massage specialist (Trudine) on our team! She's been helping me stay fresh and ready for each new day of play and I am so thankful for it. I have a great respect for my body and care immensely for the responsibility of keeping it safe. What I really appreciate is that our coaching staff for Team USA shares a genuine respect for us and takes injury prevention very seriously. As players, they have our back and care about how we are doing in mind, body, and spirit on and off the court do that we can bring our A game when we play.
Tomorrow we are playing Uganda and the team is known for their physical style of play. It is our priority to stay safe amidst their game play... please pray for a renewal of strength and continued protection from injury that can empower us to give our 100%.
Our game tomorrow is at 4pm South African time (10am Michigan time) and can be watched at http://livestream.com/rugbyafricatv anytime after 10am! Thanks for your support!!
Ps - Pictures today are from behind the scenes on the way to our locker room.
