Training Camp 1: Houston

Just got back from an incredible weekend of training camp in Houston! This weekend was the final trials for the team as well as our first weekend of training together. It was an intense, amazing experience! The most remarkable moment throughout the weekend for me came from working a simple drill on Saturday. For whatever reason, I was struggling immensely to catch on to a drill that came down to a few simple things: receive the ball, pass the ball, run forward, catch and pass the ball again. I was feeling so frustrated! It was like being a first grader in a fifth grade classroom. Everyone else knew how to read really well and I was just catching on... I started getting the hang of it and my teammates were nothing but supportive. Born out of the drill came a communication and trust that each player is there for one another. I am not going to know 100% about every single thing there is to know about netball. But, I do have a team that backs me up when I do fall short. It doesn't mean I work any less, but someone has my back when I do have shortcomings.

Another exicting thing that happened this weekend is that our team nominated me to be vice-captain of our team! I'm absolutely honored to be asked to help lead our team. Our next training camp is coming up in two weeks in Los Angeles! Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this weekend successful - from the hospitality of the school we played at to the welcoming family whose home we stayed in. 13 days until Los Angeles! I'm so motivated to hit the gym tomorrow morning and continue to work hard becoming the best I can be.
